On Valentine's day, a mother named Marni Woods gave birth to a squeeling baby boy. Her husband, Reece Woods, was obviously pleased to have a boy. He was named River, as though the couple wanted him to be like a river, flowing steadily but strongly down his path, carving out new places, exploring. From day one, River was a strong boy, despite his mother's sickness. Somehow, River managed to make it out okay, healthy, happy. For the next four years, the boy watched as his mother grew weaker and weaker, and his father became more and more stressed and worried. Of course he never showed it. Reece was more of the kidder, and never allowed River to see him upset.
It was very obvious early on that River was... well... different. He could often be seen talking to himself, usually fighting with himself. Sometimes he'd scream and cry over what seemed like nothing. At random moments, he seemed to completely switch personalities. Even as a toddler, he'd lose himself to "Shade" and would attack his mother or father. They thought it was simply his "terrible twos" or something simple like that.
When he was four years old, Marni gave birth to twin girls. Being a young boy, River wrinkled his nose at his new baby sisters, not wanting anything to do with girls. After Marni died on that same day, River was admittedly a little depressed. However, after only a year, everyone noticed that Shiloh, the smaller of the twins, was weak. River's role as older brother was quickly set into play, and from then on, he protected both siblings. He always made sure they were happy, though of course Persephone rarely appreciated his attempts. She had grown cold and disliked Reece, perhaps because the man was always too busy trying to work out a cure for Shiloh. Despite his attempts to keep them protected, River's black-outs just continued to get worse and worse, and "Shade" was taking over more and more. Eventually, the decision was made to send River to this asylum, despite his protests.[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote]
