THE HISTORY THE HISTORY THE HISTORY
From the doctor's POV:
Mister Jason Yang has been a patient of mine for 16 years. I have been in close contact with each of his specialists: his psychiatrist, his neurologist, his counselors, and even his parole officers. From an early age (warning signs arose around age 11), Mister Yang has suffered with extreme bipolar disorder. At age 12, his bipolar disorder became obscenely evident. His euphoric states kept him up for days on end, while he slept for days on end during his depressive stages. (I find it necessary to note that he will not talk, under any circumstance during depression.) Unfortunately, he became increasingly worse. By age 14, he had been hospitalized four times for attempted suicide and arrested twice for criminal mischief (at one appointment with his counselor, he was bragging about how he had stolen several cars for joyrides) Around this time, he began to prefer being called by his Korean name, Jae Soo Yang, so for here forth, that is what I will refer to him as.
After his fourth attempt to take his own life, Jae was institutionalized for 1 and a half years at St. Augustine's Hospital. The result can only be deemed as disastrous. Jae became completely horrified of ever falling back into a depression, becoming obsessed with maintaining a high through any means possible. Which means he turned to alcohol and drugs. He was 15 and started fairly slow, just enough to get a buzz, but within a solitary month, he had been in an emergency room 6 times for an overdose or for alcohol poisoning.
And the effect that the drugs and alcohol had on Jae was astounding. They completely exasperated his lows to a new degree: if he got caught in his depression, it hit quicker, lasted longer, and brought him lower. Thus his fear grew stronger.
From 17 on, I have no more conclusive data. All the information I could find was contradictory, so I will not claim to be able to add anything else to Mister Yang's files.

From the older brother's POV:
Let's start from before Jason was born, shall we? My parent's story is not one of great passion or remotely interesting at all, regardless, it may shed some light here. Maybe not.
Anyways, Yang Choi Daum and Geum Hee Yoo (that's with the family name first, given second fyi) lived in the same village growing up, a small one with just over 1,000 people. They were born exactly two months apart, and attended the same schools until university. Nevertheless, they weren't remarkably close - it would be a stretch to call them 'friends.' When they graduated, father went to America while mother went to Seoul.
Here's some more background on father: he lived with his grandmother (mother's side) until he was 19 years old in that small village. Both of his parents were alive, but he was required to learn manners and etiquette before he was able to take over the family business. Which was what? you may ask. His father's father made breakthrough research in biomedical technologies, which HIS son started marketing and profiting from. So MY father is the son of a multimillionare business tycoon, which comes with certain drawbacks. Such as an arranged marriage.
Grandmother and Grandfather required that father keep the bloodline "pure," and required him to marry a Korean girl. They offered him a folder with biographies of a few hundred women in Korea. When father came across mother's file, his thoughts ran somewhere along the line of "Oh, well, I know her and she's as good as any." Romantic, right?
Well they got married about a month after father's fevered decision, and 9 months later, guess what? At the time, they were both 22, and one was a better parent than the other. Father was too enthralled in his business to really give a fuck about me - much less the five that followed. Yes, Jae Soo was the youngest of 6 children. By the time he rolled around, our parents were 38, and I was already 16. Whenever he was actually home, Father was abusive. Mother had begun to retreat to her den in the house whenever Father came home, leaving the children to his frustrations. The last two children seemed to ignite him the most - he had stopped wanting children after the four of us. As the oldest, I tried to shelter them as much as possible. As much as I would like to say this helped, I'm not so sure.
Wan Haru was almost a year older older than Jae Soo, and Jae was absolutely enamoured with him. Wan was always slightly off... I don't really know how else to put it. He had this twisted gleam in his eye from the day he learned to crawl. He was a manipulator, and Jae's idol. If it weren't for Wan, Jae would have probably been simply bipolar, and handle it with medication. But I'm getting ahead of myself here.
Jae matured like most, with no developmental delays or anything of the sort. On the contrary, he matured slightly quicker than the rest of the siblings. He was bright-eyed and curious (at least when Father was at work) and excelled in school. As opposed to now, Jae abhorred breaking any rules and did all he could to help anyone.
Jae had a completely different personality when he was younger: quiet, restrained, and calm. It wasn't any disease that altered his personality, it was his brother. As Wan got older, he got more twisted and angry - lashing out on everyone except for Jae. Instead, he pulled Jae along with him. And Jae willingly obliged.
At about age eleven, Jae started changing, little by little. First he didn't want to eat anything, then he didn't want to go to school, then he didn't want to talk. Then the next week, while still not wanting to eat, he would be doing all of his homework, talking to everyone he saw, and sleeping only a few hours every night. Neither Mother nor Father saw any problem with this, and I was the one who finally had enough over a year's worth of extreme moodswings lasting weeks on end.
For a short while, medications kept Jae's head on straight, but Wan soon remedied that, introducing Jae to a full arsenal of illegal substances - most of which began to interfere with his medications. So the bipolarity became worse and worse as Jae became wilder and wilder.
I found him after his first suicide attempt- an overdose on his prescribed medication. Wan found him the next two times. Then the housekeeper found him. Between these attempts, he was arrested twice. Only father knows exactly happened, but he got both of these charges reduced from what they should have been. Father was furious with Jae at this point, and sent him to St. Augustine's Hospital. Wan was infuriated over this, and hardly ever came home while Jae was gone.
When Jae finally returned, he had undergone more personality changes. He was utterly terrified of ever falling into a low again. And Wan willingly obliged in giving him highs. But when Jae fell, he fell hard, attempting to kill himself almost every time. When he finally leveled out again, he went back to drinking, never in moderation.
At 16, Jae moved out with Wan(17) with one of Wan's party friends that was old enough to quickly supply alcohol and drugs. After that, I heard little from either of my brothers. A few times a year, Wan would call and ask me to take care of Jae Soo's hospital bills.
When Jae turned 20, a reporter caught wind of Jae's issues and published a full account of Jae's and Wan's life. Father was enraged and promptly sent Jae away, waiting for an excuse to hide Wan away as well.
THE PERSONALITY THE PERSONALITY
i'm not going to let anyone else try and explain ME, so i'm taking over this part. i'm stubborn as hell, and i know it. i don't like being pushed around by anyone and i'm going to do what i want to do - by myself. of course, being independent doesn't mean i'm not close to anyone. i'd say it's the opposite. i'm really social and i'm always looking for someone new toparty withtalk to - so long as you aren't a total goddam downer. and once i like you enough to consider you my friend, i am forever loyal to whatever you do, wheter i should be or not...
music. music is amazing. anything with a solid beat that i can drink to. and the best part of the music has to be the lyrics. i can spend hours with a pen in my had simply writing lyrics. but you know, i always have to be doing something. it annoys some people how i never stop moving. most of the time i don't bother sleeping, and i HAVE TO stay inside - i absolutely detest dark or rainy whether. which means i only like the sunshinnneeee, duh.
you heard i was depressive? where the fuck did you hear that? just because i try to kill myself every now and then, i'm not a depressive loser. no, those are the kids i like to mess with i.e: prank. yeah, you could say i'm a little~ bit mischievous
but when there are no pranks to be pulled, i love exercising - running especially. and i HATE eating, but i was tired of passing out during my runs, so i force some form of food (usually sweets) down my throat before heading out any more.
